Hot Air/Cold Staking
Special situations require special solutions. Hot air/cold staking is used in place of heat staking in order to get repeatable and tight staking. It is used in place of an ultrasonic system when there is concern about damage to the reverse side of the part. Also, it is more cost effective than ultrasonic welding when there are multiple staking points within a confined area.
System Functions
A part is placed onto the support fixture. Once it is in place a nozzle introduces hot air onto the boss for a predetermined length of time, heating the staking points of the part. When the cycle is over, a cold swaging tool, which is controlled by pneumatics, comes down and folds over the heated material, securing the part.

Tooltex builds hot air/cold staking systems to your specifications. If you have any questions contact us here.
